Back in the Game

Hello ladies and gent!! I have been without access to computers and internet for a week. Amazing how we can't seem to get along much without that anymore. I had some good wine, good food, lots of protein bars and plenty of rest. I did not get to weigh in on Saturday so I will do that when the next one rolls around.

While I was gone I read several articles about women losing weight (lots of weight). Their secret was having buddies a lot like AA or whatever the other one is. Having a buddy that you can call on when you get tempted or don't feel like exercising. They would switch out the buddies so you would get the benefit of all aspects of each other's experiences.

I also came across an article (maybe in Good Housekeeping) that was on the newstands this past week. Something about a faith based weight program that I think 3 out of the 5 ladies were involved with. 5 women had lost a total of over 500 pounds. I looked up the program~~Weigh Down something or other. The website is www.wdworkshop.com. Check it out and see if there is anything you can glean from it.

I missed you all while I was disconnected.

Okay I gained, so what

Okay guys,

I have gained and I am here to tell you it was worth it. I am back on track now though and plan to keep plodding along until I get this fat off.

Here's a great hand for all of you that have lost. Good going.

Love,
Lydia

What a day

OK, for all of you who are interested, I have lost 9 pounds. Curbed my intake of Coke (yes I saw the email about the other uses for Coke so don't send it to me). Drinking more water. Some exercise. Superior attitude and intellect.

For other info: yesterday Claire and Matt's house burned. They are OK. Suspect a malfunction in the dryer. The utility room is a total loss and the kitchen and their bedroom were heavily damaged, as they are on opposite sides of the utility room. We helped them take most everything salvageable out of the house last night. They will lose some stuff but most of their clothes and keepsakes just got wet. We will help them wash all of their clothes today and clean up the stuff we can save. The camp manager is talking about putting them in an apartment until the house can be replaced. We will let you know more as we do.

Good morning, hope you all are well. So far we have missed this flu. I lost 2lbs.this week. And that is a total of 9lbs. Weight Watchers is a good program. And doing it on-line is easier for me. To stay on program, you have to drink water, eat frts. and veg. 5 serv., stay within your alotted points, exercise or walk or something 3 t0 4 times a wk. and the all important write it down. But everyone has to pick something that works for them. I think Pat has a plan that is perfect for her. Lets not feel defeated with a bad day. Love you all lou.

Weird Week

Finally got to weigh. Lost 1/2 pound. Does that even count?
Water 8
Exercise 6
Attitude 15, oh, sorry, 10
Fat: too much.
Friday Rick and I drove to Devine and picked up my mother. We took her to Llano, where my brother played some of his original music that night, in a saloon. Then we brought her to our house for a few days. Saturday and Sunday we were back and forth to the church and tried to rest in the afternoons. Then Sunday night my sister, Rhonda, called to tell us that mother's acreage had burned that afternoon. She owns 18 3/4 acres, with one fenced for her house. It looks like the fire started on the south side. By the time the fire department got there, it had burned into the back yard. They stopped it about 18 inches from the house. We praise God that she was not there and that, as far as we can tell, none of the buildings were damaged. Well, maybe the hay barn. (Hope the kitties weren't at home.) I took her home Monday and just got back to Bastrop this afternoon. I'm worn out and ready to sleep in my own bed. Pray for her as she deals with the insurance adjuster and repairmen. She really does not like having to handle all her business on her own, but she does a good job.

I've Been Thinking Hmmmm

Terri, I decided to take a bath and while doing so I was thinking about you. The first thing you need to do is decide what plan you want to follow and decide to stick with it. It needs to be something you can stick with for the longhaul. Now I want to share with you what I am doing and I hope others will say what they are doing. Then if you like one of these just adopt it for your own. For me - I was having too much trouble getting off carbs and I am a carb addict. The more I eat the more I want and it does not matter how full I am I still want more. I remembered when Charlie went on the low-carb diet several years and we felt so much better. The only problem was when we stopped we gained it back. I read an article which said that people who kept their carb count 60 or under lost weight. We had tried to keep our count under 20 carbs. Here is a typical day for us. We eat bacon, sausage and eggs for breakfast and sometimes I cut an orange up for us too. Then for lunch we eat a salad with meat, eggs, cheese, olives and ranch dressing on it. I do not buy fat free anything. I have found that the taste is so much better and it doesn't take as much to satisfy. Then for supper we eat meat and salad or veggies. For dessert we eat jello with berries (with artificial sweetner) and whipped cream or cool whip. One thing we like to is to brown hamburger meat and then add chile powder and tomato sauce. We top this chili with sour cream, cheese and chopped onions. Today for breakfast and lunch I drank a low carb slim fast. These satisfy more than the regular slim fast. Also we take a multivitamin. Anyway we have been doing this for a little over a week and we feel so much better. Well that's about it.

I gained, let the world come apart, who can help me

I had to have a steroid shot and I gained 1.6 lbs this week. I hate it. I haven't been eating a lot because I have been sick, but haven't gotten any exercise either. Not drinking enough fluds, etc. So help me, I've fallen and I can't get up.

Love,
Lydia

Here's my info Terri T

I lost back the two pounds I had lost and gained the week before so I am still at only a 3 pound loss overall. I have been drinking lots of water and cut back on the "fiber" a little since most of it comes with things I should not eat. It is very hard to"diet" or even eat healthy when you do this by yourself. Poor Gene.....no wheat, no dairy. I think he sneaks a little something every now and then. He is even eating non-wheat cereal with soy milk. We just came back from a walk in the woods where I slipped and fell on the pine straw. Soft landing but not good for the ego. The dogs just looked at me like I was a martian and then licked my face. I think I should stick to the roads.

Holley sent Mom and Dad some info on a family that lost 500 pounds in a year. We can do better than that!! We we have more people. Check out their information. We might be able to use some of their pointers.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23100628/

Think good thoughts for me. I have to go out of town on business for a week to California. I think the only thing that will save me is exercise. I am taking my tennies and exercise togs so I can get lots of walking in while I am there. It is very hard to stay on the right path when you are out of town. Here's hoping for positive numbers next week.

boo hoo

Not good, not good!

What is wrong with me? I have to say that I have not even been on a diet this past two weeks. I think I even gained some this past week. I need something to happen to get my butt in gear. I even have a friend who auditioned for the biggest looser. Maybe I need to do that. I have not had anything to eat today but coffee. I start out doing so good but by the end of the afternoon it all goes to pot I know that I need to go to the store and load up on good food...but I am single and eat out all the time. I hate cooking just for me. When I get to a restaraunt to get something to eat my will power is weak and I go for the most fattening stuff. I am going to work out today and it has started out good soooo, Today is a new day, fresh with no mistakes, as Anne Shirley would say. Good luck all.

P.S. I like that you guys are posting your info on here and I have not been keeping in on a spread sheet. Just keep posting it here and keep track of your weithloss to date each time you post.

Good morning children, and sisters and I don't know if my brother reads these or not. Well terri t. I am happy to report that I walked this week around the lake x2. doing good on drinking water. give me 10 on the fiber. I need some beano. fat consumption is down but give me 7 on that. My total weight loss is still 7 lbs. I think sometimes it gets hung up in there. I am going to shoot for 3lbs this week to make it a total loss of 10 lbs. And by the way Charlotte said that she has been very busy and when she gets home she has to study for tests. She is on a tread -mill with her job and school too. love you all. lou

Saturday check-in

O.K. I'll be the first to check in today. This week was some better. Water drinking was a 9. Activity level was at least out of the minus column. Attitude was a lot better and I did lose 1 pound this week. That is better than the past two weeks when I gained. Charlie and I both are doing low carb. Not the old atkins diet, but keeping the carbs as low as possible. We both feel a lot better. That's all for now. See you on the flip-flop.

Start Over

This week has been one big binge for me. I started out great, but just got worse. I will try to do better next week.

Lydia

Well at least I didn't GAIN any...

Weight is same as last week. Exercise was 200% better because I exercised twice this week (1-hour fast walk each time) and not any last week. Water consumption was way up, and I'm setting timers on my stove to remind me to drink regularly. Amazing what that does for energy level. Keep it up everyone! It might be a slow process but we'll all get there!
Love,
Lar

Better this week

I lost 2 pounds this week!
My other scores: water - 8
exercise - 8
emotion - 10

I think we should plan to reward ourselves for every; how many pounds, 75, 100 that we lose?
What do you guys think?
And what about that family reunion? Didn't Lou say we could meet in Grapeland? When?
well I didn't do well yesterday, Kriss came and spent the day and set me just say right here that she didn't either. But I have lost a grand total of 5lbs . I drank my water, ate lots of fiber , haven't gotten off the ground with the exercise but have good intentions. My attitude is wonderful since all of you are encouraging me. I am watching the fat, but sometimes I don't read the labels untill I've consumed the food. Score me terit. Love you all

I need my routine back!!!

I have a friend in from Hawaii staying at the Lost Pines Hyatt Resort. I am way out of my routine in eating and exercise. I don't normally eat the same things most people eat. My tummy hurts. Funny thing is I think I actually lost 2 pounds before she got here last week and I gained it back yesterday eating hotel food in the club room. Yikes!! My attitude is great, exercise is down, and I need more water.

I am proud of all of us. Keep up the good work. Let's figure out what a good collective goal would be for us to lose so we can start working towards our wild women weekend. Any suggestions on the collective weight loss? How about suggestions for the destination?

I have to go eat more hotel food. Be strong everylady!!

I hate diets

I recently in the last year lost 12 pounds. Have gained 5 back. Not entirely happy about this, but oh well. All I want to do is eat. The more I try and slow down the more I want. I really don't like diets which is probably why I don't do them, but I think it is great that all of ya'll are doing it. I will be a good cheerleader for all of you. Go Lou-nies. And remember Norma if I have to call and let you know when we have made it to a destination you have to do the same. And you know you can't rely on Greg to pass on a message, he has CRS disease.

Bad day for dieting

Don't know about everyone else, but this week has been hard for me to diet. I just couldn't stick with it, but I know next week will be better.

Love,
Lydia

Finally

Finally this computer illiterate person got on, thanks to Rachel. For some reason it wasn't taking my password. I just did what you said and it let me reset it. Thanks.

I have not been doing well this week. Birthday and all. Just didn't watch what I ate at all. The only thing that might save me from gaining too much is I exercised several times this week.

Love,
Lydia

Can't Let Lou outdo me

I hit post before I even had finished the title. Oh well maybe Lou can out do me. I too like getting to keep in touch with everyone. I think someone needs to help Lydia to get aboard. Charlie and I decided today that we are going back on low carb. We bought what we need to get started today when we went to Sweetwater. That seemed to work well for us a few years ago. See he is getting interested in this too. I will let y0u all know later how it is going. We are going to Iraan tomorrow so I won't be able to weigh in until Sunday morning. God bless you all and I love you.
Well here I am again, just an old blogger. I am actually going to start walking today. I am going to push myself out the door. You younger girls are an inspiration. love you all.

Wow

I am so loving that we are doing this together. PLEASE, let us keep this going. It really does help me to stay focused. I even feel closer to my family. I love it. I say all that to say this...stay strong people.

Kriss, man, you really love those koshi bars...I guess I am going to have to give them a try.

Cindy, I am so excited to do this with you! Get the WW info now.

Mom, I could just eat you up! you are so cute and what a motivator you are.

Happy Birthday to all the sisters...there are too many to count. :)

I think it is great that the little ones are getting involved. I also have a face book and I get to be updated on their lives. Bethany has the cutest boyfriend. Okay, I am at work and need to stop for now. Love you all.
TT
Good morning, I Thought I was in but I wasn't. But now I think I'm in. This is so complicated. But whatever If at first you don't succeed try try again.

Directions

O,K, At the top right corner of this Lounies page there is an underlined word that says New Post. If you click on that a page will come up that has a place for a title and a message. After you type in your message you click on the bottom left of the page on the orange button that says Publish Post. I want everyone to try this little excersize, It doesn't take a lot of effort and I think you'll get through it without even breaking a sweat. I need to hear from you all. Kashi cereal and bars were on sale at Walmart today and they had a sticker coupon on the front that was buy 3 and get 1 free. What a deal. The oats and chocolate bars are really good and have 9 grams of fiber and 4 grams of fat. Almost like eating a cho cho bar. Yum.

Info off of Oprah's Website

Check this out.

You don't need balls, mats and elastic bands to get a great workout. Dr. Oz says there are only four exercises that you'll ever need to know—and none require fancy machinery!First, Dr. Oz suggests that people walk for at least 30 minutes each and every day. "Walking is the foundation for all other exercises because it increases your stamina and prepares your body for strength training," he says. You should strive to walk 10,000 steps a day.The second step is to build muscle by lifting weights for 30 minutes a week. You can lift a dumbbell, a gallon of milk or your toddler…just start lifting!

Now that you're on the right track, Dr. Oz says you have to work up a sweat for about an hour a week. "The number one predictor of how long you're going to live is how well you can exercise your heart," he says. "If you can push yourself to sweat for an hour a week, that's great. You can break it down into three little segments of 20 minutes each."Finally, you have to stretch so that you don't get hurt. Dr. Oz likes to do yoga, but he says you can get the same benefits from stretches you learned in high school gym class.

There's one secret fat-burner that you can do anywhere—fidgeting! Most of the one million calories you consume every year are burned without you ever thinking about it. Only 15 to 30 percent of calories are burned through intentional physical activity, so minor additions like being fidgety helps keep off the pounds!

Hope this helps us all!! Dixie

This could be the beginning of a beautiful DIET

O.K. everyone, I'm so excited because I started out my Monday morning with a walk and a Kashi bar! Yea!!! Shannon, I wanted to say hello to you, I haven't done that yet, and I think your idea about breaking it down in 10 lb. increments, is just ingenious! Terri, thank you for that little encouragement, you are a sweetie! Lauri, (did I spell that right), I do that very thing with my fiber one flakes, I use walnuts and craisins and they are so yummy. Have a good week everyone. Cindy, are you listening? You can do this! Don't try to do it, just get started and do it. Have you ever seen "What About Bob"? We just have to take baby steps. Love you all. Kriss

a resource

I heard from my niece, Whitney.  She has been using this website to help motivate her with her dieting:

http://sparkpeople.com

It is a free website.  I have visited it.  It has great articles, nutrition info, exercise tips, even a place to track your progress.  I did not even set up an account and was able to access all the information I wanted.  So, if you need some more ideas, this could be the place for you.

By the way, Rick lost 2 pounds last week.  He cut down on his Cokes, increased his water intake, ate my high fiber, low fat dinners and worked in the yard.  (Raked about a ton of pine straw.)  Our gardening season is just starting.  And everything we grow is in our Eating Plan!

I did it

YEA, I did it. I FINALLY figured it out. Glad to be aboard.

get to postin'

Hey,
This is great! Kriss did just right. I was thinking that we could say how well we did drinking our water as well. I am so proud of you kriss for having such a wonderful attitude.
Dixie, I can't wait for the wild women's weekend. I want to hear your thoughts. This might just give me an extra push.

I have not really started but I am going to today. I wanted to give myself a full week. I need to go to the store. Anyway, keep me posted. I can still do the spreadsheet but if everyone is fine with this I am too.

Love ya,
Terri T.

saturday check in

I dont know where we are suppose to go I hope this is right. my poundage loss is only 1 lb. Mom is showing me up big time so I am getting on the ball for this week. If it helps anyone, I follow this method that is easier for me. My goal is to lose 70lbs but I look at it as 7 sets of 10lbs. It sounds like a smaller number and I feel better when I knock one set of ten down and the sets get smaller. I thought i would share that if it helps.

Saturday Check In

Hey guys, I'm not much of a blogger but, I'm going to give this a try. My efforts have been few and far between, but I did manage to lose about 1 1/2 pounds this week. I know it's not much, but seeing that my excersize has been in the minus category, I'll take it. So I can't remember for sure what we are supposed to rate Miss Terri, but here is what I know.

Aaahhhhhh

Thanks Rachel for getting us girls bloggin! This rocks, and now my inbox can breathe a sigh of relief too. This is my first time to blog (OMG, someone write down this date!) Dixie I tried that green tea pouch today, wow it's good (and easy), will look for some at HEB next time I'm there. The last time I lost weight (10 pounds this time last year, and it chased me down & hopped back on again) I remember drinking alot of unsweet tea...substituted for sodas and sweet tea. I also got off of chocolate, BUT the other day I found in the HEB bulk foods, an organic chocolate chip that only has 4 grams of fat (compared to 11) and 5 grams of sugar (compared to 20-something). They aren't exactly decadent tasting, but during the time of the month when all I want is chocolate, it's a better option. So maybe I won't give that up completely this time.

BTW, how do you pronounce "cho-cho bar"???
